Description:
For children with sensory integration issues-those who have difficulty processing everyday sensations & show unusual behavior such as avoidance or Search by touch, motion, sounds & sights of this ground-breaking book is a valuable resource. Long thought only autistic children relate to, or mistaken for ADHD is SI dysfunction is finally being recognized as a separate condition. Co-author of a pediatric occupational therapist & a parent of a child with SI dysfunction, Raising a Sensory Smart Child is as warm & accessible as it is relevant & detailed, & is an indispensable guide for parents, therapists & teachers who turn it over & over again.

This is one of two major books on the market for sensory integration issues (SI). During the Out of Sync Child is mainly concerned with what SI is, this book offers help directly to the parent with what they face every day and gives a brief introduction to what is SI. This book is full of useful resources to find from where to SI products to help with IEP’s, on-line support groups and to list as a teenager to help with SI problems. This is a well-rounded book that is more useful for younger children, the parents, but would be an advantage for those with older children as well be.
I have never, for a review, but this book has impressed me, and do written in a way because it is so important a contribution to the literature for SI.

I am a mother of a sensitive child. This book has changed my life, and it is a vital resource for those who like to get help, or a child with sensory integration will. It is my “Bible”.
Unlike most books on sensory integration, it has been written by a mother Nancy Peske, and an OT, Lindsey Biel, who, as it have and raise and understand the treatment of sensory child. It is easy to read and understand beginning and tell a story of personal Nancy Peske experiences with her own child to explain what it means to have a sensory child, and accept that you have a sensible child, and how to order Your sensory child.
This wonderful book provides practical solutions for everyday life. This book helps you really understand what are sensory problems and what is the technical language (in easy to understand, explanations and examples).
This book is the best I have ever read have in relation to the specific techniques you use, you can to help your sensitive child eat, play, sleep and learn to efficiently concentrate, to make sure to organize, to regulate self-and so much more. < br />
This book also tells you what you do as parents to help advocate for your child. It provides the steps for the evaluation and the different types of therapies available, which are at home and what to expect when you work with an OT. The book also contains information on how to set up an IEP or 504 plan for your child and how the services you need to help your child.
The book is extremely practical and what I know best how is that is written like a manual, so if you are already familiar with sensory integration, each chapter without reading the whole book, read to find the resources you need. The book contains numerous links to current research and valuable information in books, videos, DVDs and online, that such a big difference in my life and my son’s life have made
I read all the books and research on the Internet out there to sensory integration and this book is definitely the best. I recommend it to every parent, teacher, tutor, OT or friend who wants to help understand and / or to successfully treat a child with sensory integration.
I recommend that you read , the Out of Sync Child and the Out of Sync Child has fun by Carol Stock Kranowitz, which also essential resources to the sensory integration.

I’ve never left a review before, but wanted to write after reading another, basically as sensory integration disorder, a diagnosis made-Quack. I have my 4 years old to a pediatric neurologist, a pediatric neuro-psychologist and two occupational therapists. All of them integation diagnosed him with sensory disorders. This is a real condition and needs to be addressed and treated. After five months in OT, we see great improvements. The experts know SID diagnosis and OT work. There is little out there in terms of reading resources, and I am glad to have to provide any information. After 3 years of thinking my son was a bit bizarre, it is to read a blessing that he is not alone.

Even if you have read one or two other books on sensory integration, you will find helpful in this book. It delves into issues that concern parents, such as self-care (such as dressing, brushing teeth, and food) and sociability (eg, parties, crowds, noise), and offers suggestions for making these situations easier. Many other important aspects of raising a child with sensory integration are addressed, such as coping with tantrums, rigidity and overload. As a parent of a child with SI (Childrensdisabilities. info) I would this book every parent, a child with any level of sensory integration problems is recommended, especially for those whose children are in their daily lives to fight.
